BEACHCITIES HISTORY
Having been ordained in spring 1985, young pastor Kent Sparks was interning at a Huntington Beach Baptist church and looking for a permanent church appointment when he began discipling 10 Newport Beach-area friendsmen who, at a late-summer moment when Kent was least expecting it, came forward to ask if he would be interested in planting a new church.
Humbled, Kent first suggested the men begin inviting their wives to their weekly meetings. The new “co-ed study” flourished in September and October and, “by November,” Kent recalls, “it was evident the group was large enough to support the founding of a church.”
After a joyous, Holy Spirit-anointed prayer meeting on Saturday night, the first Beachcities Community Church worship service was held on Sunday morning, Dec. 8, 1985.
A passionate Bible teacher, Kent has since preached more than 1,000 sermons on countless topics from almost every book of the Old and New Testaments.
In the late 1980s, Beachcities met in the cafeteria at Edison High School; from 1990-2001, they met on Sundays at Estancia High School. In fall 2001, BCC moved into the spacious, fully renovated former 24 Hour Fitness building at 9872 Hamilton Ave. And in 2004, BCC acquired the adjoining strip mall.
From the original 20 or so adults, Beachcities Community Church has grown to a point where more than 1,000 people now call it their church home.

WHO WE ARE
Says Beachcities’ senior and founding pastor Kent Sparks: “Back in 1985, I saw the need for a church committed to biblical values and featuring a contemporary worship stylea church to help guys and gals in the beach community get saved.”
And nearly 20 years later, that best explains who we are: “Guys and gals in the beach community (primarily Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and Costa Mesa) of all ages and all walks of life seeking to deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ; getting to know Him better through the study of His Word and getting to know each other better for encouragement and support.
The original Beachcities motto was “To know God and to make Him known” which evolved, in 1993, into the more focused “...to help people find Christ and grow in maturityspiritually, emotionally and relationally.”
And that is the desire of all who worship here.

HOW WE WORSHIP
The teaching at Beachcities Community Church is strictly Bible based, senior pastor Kent Sparks known nationwide for his passionate and practical sermon messages.
Our Sunday services are non-liturgical and designed to help you leave the world at the door and turn your heart and mind toward the worship of the One True and Living God through music (contemporary, joyous with worship leader David Pettway) and study in the Word (with Pastor Kent and occasional guest speakers).
As we a church based in a beach community, the “dress code” is probably best described as “relaxed”whatever you are comfortable wearing that allows you and those around you to worship without distraction.

WHEN WE GATHER
Although there are small groups, age-based groups and affinity groups meeting almost every night of the week (and many days) here at Beachcities Community Church, our primary whole-church gatherings are on Sunday mornings and Tuesday nights.
On Sundays, we have three worship services, at 8:00 A.M., 9:30 A.M. and 11:00 A.M.
Tuesday nights are family nights: for adults, Bible study with Pastor Kent Sparks in the auditorium; for children pre-K to 5th grade, CityKids! in the Elementary Room, starting at 6:30 P.M.
If you have any additional questions about worship and/or midweek service times, call the church office at (714) 698-0668.

HOW TO FIND US
Beachcities Community Church is located at 9872 Hamilton Ave. in Huntington Beach, just 100 yards west of the intersection of Hamilton and Brookhurst.
From the north, either the 405 Freeway or the Pacific Coast Highway to Brookhurst (south or north, respectively) is probably easiest. From the South, connecting from the 55 Freeway/Newport Boulevard via Victoria Ave. in Costa Mesa (which becomes Hamilton in H.B.) is probably faster than the 405 to Brookhurst. PCH north to Brookhurst works well.
Note that on Sundays, the “main” entrance to the auditorium is ground level on the west side of the building, not the glass doors upstairs (which go to the church office and are generally locked on Sunday).
