UPDATE ON PANAMA
A critical component in the recently completed Step of Faith campaign was the commitment of our church to support the sweeping Christian resource-creating efforts of a young Bible translator, Carlos Pena, working in the jungles of Panama. Beachcities brought Pena (who once served alongside Beachcities elder and Wycliffe missionary Ron Binder) in to join our staff in May. In July and early August, Binder, wife Kathy plus church members Gil Denham (Pastor Kent’s father-in-law) and Bill Zoller flew to Panama to start construction of a home for Pena, who will be translating a long list of Christian resource material (including the Jesus film) into a native Indian language as leader of a joint outreach venture of Beachcities and Wycliffe.
Though hampered by torrential rain, inadequate manpower and funding, and slow delivery of supplies, amazing progress was made by the hard-working Beachcities quartet. Praise God!
